State Vocational Rehabilitation Agencies

The Ticket to Work program is for individuals who want to work toward financial independence, which means getting off SSDI or SSI benefits. If that is not your goal, please consider signing up with a state vocational rehabilitation. State vocational rehabilitation agencies work with a broader range of individuals, such as individuals who can only work part time due to their disabilities or chronic health conditions, and thus, do not expect to transition off SSI or SSDI by working.

State Vocational Rehabilitation Agencies provide vocational rehabilitation to Ticket to Work recipients, just as Employment Networks (ENs) do. The state agencies can provide additional vocational rehabilitation (VR) services that ENs do not provide, such as covering expenses for training programs (but that is not guaranteed). If you think you need more training in order to return to work, you can contact your state vocational rehabilitation agency, or the Worksource employment department near you.

Employment networks (ENs), like Rehability, often can provide faster services than state agencies for returning to work as soon as possible. If you are already working, ENs can help you to maintain coverage and support in the Ticket to Work program for several years. In contrast, the state VR agencies will close cases of individuals who are working after 90 days.

Here is a short list of 4 state VR agencies, with whom Rehability has collaborated. The full list can be accessed on the TTW website https://choosework.ssa.gov/findhelp/
